Santa Clara – Ivins 1st Responders
The cast of the Mystery dinner decided to assist a local 1st responder organization. We heard that the Santa Clara – Ivins 1st responder group was in need of a new outdoor grill. The Elks bought them a Char Broil Commercial stainless steel, 4 burner, true infrared DANDY, brand new full propane tank and a full set of Char Broil grillin’ tools!!! With money left over we had a cook-out for those 1st responders and their families. At that cook-out we fed over 70 1st responders and their family members. The St. George “Dixie” Elks Lodge established this scholarship last year. The scholarship is designed to assist students that are in their final or next to final set of classes…unable to attain their certification in their selected trade due to financial issues. To date we have helped 5 students actually enter the workforce. We have contributed to a CNC machinist, a designer in digital media, a CDL driver, diesel technician and a pharmaceutical technician. There are 3 others currently working on their certifications. Way to go “Dixie” Elks!!! FISH N FUN
Saturday morning June 1st we had the distinct pleasure of assisting with the Fish ‘N Fun event at Sand Hollow Reservoir in Hurricane, UT. The National Guard, United States Army and the Southern Utah Bass Anglers teamed up to help some special needs people experience a very enjoyable morning followed by a lake side lunch. Your St. George “Dixie” Elks Lodge has, for the last several years, supplied the tables and chairs for this gathering. WALK TO END ALZHEIMER'S
