AMERICANISM (JOHN BUZA, CHAIR)
Winners for 2015-2016
Guy Ludlow, Rylee Dorman, Addilyn Walker, Macaela Woodruff, Ivy Matus, and Betty Anderson
The ambition and goal of the Americanism Committee is to quicken the spirit of American patriotism and to stimulate an awareness - a genuine feeling of pride and respect toward patriotism - so that we, as Elks will become constant reminders that America truly means freedom. The Americanism Committe contacts local schools with information about our yearly Americanism Essay contest which is open to students in the 5th 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The theme will change each year, and our entrants will be judged on originality, development of theme, and the mechanics and neatness of their essay.
The winners of our area move on to the State level and winning at that level brings with it a cash award. This will be awarded at our Scholarship and awards Banquet in May.
